This is your chance to have your say about how to protect and enhance nature in our region.
Local Nature Recovery Strategies (LNRSs) were established by the Environment Act 2021 to drive nature recovery. There should soon be one for every area of the country.
The LNRS must set out what is most important for nature’s recovery, map the most valuable existing natural areas and map proposals for improving or creating natural areas along with other benefits.
The Draft Strategy has now been produced and is open for public consultation until 11th October 2026.

North York Moors National Park New Community Forums
Residents and organisations across the North York Moors are invited to join new Community Forums – a chance to hear more about the work of the NYMNP, ask questions and raise topics that matter locally.
Three forums will cover the Southern, Western, and Northern & Coastal areas. Agendas will reflect local priorities, with topics including nature recovery, tourism, heritage and planning.
Southern – 8 October, Old Vicarage, Helmsley Northern & Coastal – 21 October, Danby Lodge National Park Centre (Cowbar’s area!) Western – 28 October, Old Vicarage, Helmsley
Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start, and the meetings can also be attended online via Teams.
