Snails
Cepaea nemoralis, Cepaea hortensis. They live and feed in the grasses and burrow down to hibernate in the grass roots in winter.
Burnet Moth
Zygaena trifolii. 5 Spot Burnet moths (Zygaena trifolii) can be found all over Cowbar in July and August, especially gathered together on the ragwort and knapweed.

Small Tortoiseshell
Aglais urticae. This butterfly is easily spotted on Cowbar and is one of the first butterflies to be seen in the spring. (It can be seen almost any time of the year in urban areas but many hibernate over the winter.)
Peacock Butterfly
Aglais io. Peacock butterflies can be spotted on the grass verges of Cowbar Lane from March to September. Some females lay their eggs there in May which is why it is important the grasses are not mown then.

Ladybirds
Coccinellidae. These are easily spotted on Cowbar from April onwards, when they come out of hibernation from cracks and crevices and leaf litter.
