Meadow Foxtail
Alopecurus pratensis. This is a perennial grass with long, cylindrical flower heads (also known as panicles or inflorescences) which look like furry fox tails. It is common in clumps on Cowbar, especially on the south verges of Cowbar Lane
Cocksfoot
Dactylis glomerata. Cocksfoot is another common perennial grass easy to spot on Cowbar verges and flowers from May to September.

Yorkshire Fog
Holcus lanatus. This is a very familiar grass and easy to spot on Cowbar Lane verges and next to the Cleveland Way. It is a perennial which flowers from May to August.
